Five Fitness Faces Series: Lexi Oberheide

Welcome to part 3 of my blog series entitled, "Five Fitness Faces". It is a collection of answers to questions that I asked of five fitness travelers that I have met all over the world from Germany to Sweden to USA, these five people embody what CarryOnTravelFitness is all about! For part 3 of the series, meet Lexi Oberheide. Lexi and I have been good friends for about 2 years now. We met during university in a psychology class. Lexi is currently a model, yoga enthusiast, and entrepreneur living in Los Angeles, California. Here is what Lexi had to say: 1. How do you stay fit? Any sports, lifting, Crossfit...etc?

Yoga is my go to workout!  I try to go everyday and twice a day if I have the time.

2. How do you stay fit while traveling?

When I travel I like to stay fit by walking or biking everywhere.  Not only is it great exercise but you really get a better feel for the city and culture than you would if you were to take a taxi place to place. I also try to stick to my normal diet as much as I can without restricting myself too much.

3. What is your favorite place that you have traveled to? Why?

Gosh this is a hard one!  I love so many places for so many different reasons...Traveling to Greece with one of my best friends was probably one of my favorite trips though because we had such a fun time together. The beaches there were so gorgeous and I loved the little towns with the classic Greek architecture too!

4. How do you balance healthy eating while sampling the local cuisine while on the road?

To be honest,  I have a lot of food intolerances - so that cancels out a lot of foods that most people are able to eat.  When I’m traveling I will just have a little bite of something that is traditional to that specific culture so that my stomach doesn’t get too upset.

5. 3 words to describe your fitness regime

Simple. Healing. Consistent.

6. What is your most embarrassing travel story?

N/A lol (sorry I cant think of one off the top of my head!)

7. Solo Travel or Partner/ Group Travel?

Solo travel hands down!  When I go places solo I meet so many more people.  I have made so many friends from other parts of the world during the times that I would wander away from the group and do my own thing. It is a completely different experience. Personally, I feel like I learn so much more and have more meaningful experiences and interactions with the locals when I travel alone than I do when I’m with a group.

8. Any advice for someone that wants to stay in shape while they travel.

Try to keep a healthy diet and only indulge in small doses or when it’s food you've never tried before!  Don’t eat the whole bread basket every night at dinner just because the waiter puts it in front of you haha.  I also like to take fitness, yoga or dance classes if I have the time!  You don't have to go to a gym to stay active, do something that is fun for you! Spend the day biking around the city, go for a hike, take a fitness class that is popular in their culture.
